Accounting | Ashton College

As of November 23, 2020, Ashton College’s bookkeeping department has been absorbed into accounting department. Our Certificate of Bookkeeping program has been replaced with our new Certificate in Accounting program, which covers all the courses included in the Certificate of Bookkeeping, along with new courses regarding relevant accounting techniques and knowledge.

Bookkeeping is a crucial part of accounting, and our new Certificate in Accounting program is accredited by the Canadian Bookkeeper’s Association (CBA), which means it meets the same rigorous standards as our Certificate in Bookkeeping did. Earning a Certificate in Accounting will provide you with the education and opportunities our Certificate in Bookkeeping provided, along with so much more. Career Opportunities

The new Certificate in Accounting program will provide graduates with the career opportunities the Certificate in Bookkeeping offered, along with many other opportunities. All businesses perform financial transactions, and all of them need accountants to oversee their financial records, and other financial aspects of their business. Many accountants are self-employed, running small businesses and sub-contracting services to clients. Accountants are also employed by private companies, government organizations and virtually any other kind of institution. Graduates will find entry level positions as accounting assistants, accounting clerks, and accounting technicians. Advanced accountants will find opportunities in specialized areas of finance, such as tax, or payroll administration.
