Student Success Centre Coordinator

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Registrar, the Student Success Centre Coordinator supports the facilitation of experiential learning and alumni engagement within the diploma programs offered by Ashton College. Your role will be to support students and faculty with the implementation of orientation, all practicum placements and internship opportunities, and alumni engagement both locally and globally.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Diploma (or higher) in a related field and/or an equivalent amount of prior related work experience
  • Additional training in counselling, career preparation, and leadership is required since it directly relates to the role
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter: Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and oral communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively, exhibiting respect for all colleagues in a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to service and community engagement
  • Proven success in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Practicum placement experience or experience supervising practicum students in the workplace would be an asset
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including successful experience in project management
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, resolve conflict, meet deadlines, stay current, and adapt to change
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Highly resourceful with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and be creative
  • Strong qualitative research skills
  • Relevant experience in office management, organizing, and managing records
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution strategies and approaches would be an asset

The successful candidate is required/expected to fulfill the following competencies:

Practicum Coordination:

  • Prepare an inventory of students in each cohort for practicum programs
  • Identify opportunities in their respective communities for practicum placements
  • Contact hosts and establish long-term affiliation agreements for both current and future students
  • Facilitate practicums; including providing material resources (forms, manuals, etc.) to both hosts and students
  • Monitor practicum, be available to answer ongoing questions, and keep record of all activities in students’ files
  • Receive reports from hosts and provide them to instructors for grading
  • Follow up with instructors and graduate the student in Campus Login once program requirements are met

Alumni Engagement:

  • Follow up with alumni to gather employment data
  • Forge working relationships with alumni so that they may in the future support our graduates
  • Connect Alumni with virtual job-fairs and find new opportunities for them
  • Assist marketing with alumni testimonials (when required)
  • Maintain alumni database for continued access and rapport building

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:

  • Practicum placement or supervising practicum: 1 year (preferred)
