I travelled to Canada from Japan to attend Ashton College and study Sales and Marketing. In Japan, I worked as a systems engineer, so everything in my courses was very new to me. Nevertheless, with the support of my instructors and classmates, I was able to master the material and landed two practicum positions, one with Canadian Export Centre as a marketing assistant and one with Vancouver Fashion Week as a media sponsorship coordinator.
Over the course of my two internship placements I learned a ton of things I could not have learned in Japan. I gained experience in an international work environment and came to understand some of the cultural differences between Japan and the Western business world. I truly appreciate Ashton College’s help, and I am grateful to them for providing me with these opportunities.
