On Thursday, September 22, 2022, Ashton College will be hosting a free CPD webinar to support the continuing professional development of legal professionals across the country. This CPD event will cover the LMIA processing updates from the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, BC Provincial Nominee Program updates, Business Provincial Nominee Program updates, Quebec Immigration updates and helpful processing tips. Our expert panel will also discuss LMIA Exempt Work Permit options and transitioning from NOC to TEER.

Ron McKay has been involved professionally in the practice of immigration from 1986 to present. He previously served as a locally-engaged Overseas Immigration Officer and later worked as an Immigration Consultant at the Vancouver based law firm of Clark Wilsons LLP. In the capacity of Immigration Consultant he is presently employed by the CANGO and GUANGSON Immigration Consulting Firms. For the last three years, he has been employed as the Director of Immigration Programs at Ashton College.
Ron McKay is a Past President of the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (“CAPIC”) and a Past Chair of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (“ICCRC”). He has previously served on multiple stakeholder committees involving Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency, Service Canada, the Immigration and Refugee Board and Continuing Legal Education.

Peter Veress is a registered member of the Immigration Consultants of the Canadian Regulatory Council and has 30 years of experience in the field of immigration law. He has started his own immigration consulting practice, Vermax Group Inc., where he helps foreign and domestic businesses in their immigration needs.
Peter frequently presents on immigration issues, provides professional immigration related articles and publications, and appeared numerous times in multi-party parliamentary commissions on immigration.
Gerry Power has extensive expertise in immigration and citizenship matters with over 35 years of experience in both public and private sectors. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Gerry started his career at the Citizenship Branch of the federal government in Ottawa. He then joined the Quebec Immigration Department, where he worked for 30 years as an Immigration Officer and Program Manager and Director, in charge of various Quebec Immigration Offices abroad.
Gerry has lived in many countries and travelled extensively. He is familiar with numerous cross-cultural environments. Based in Hong Kong, from where he manages his Canadian immigration consulting firm, Gerry is a Regulated Immigration Consultant and is registered as a Quebec Immigration Consultant.
Alina Roman earned holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering and is a Regulated Immigration Consultant with many years of experience in the field of immigration. She is working as an Immigration Consultant for Simon Fraser University, and her past work experience includes working for educational and governmental organizations as well as managing her own immigration practice.
Alina has been teaching the Immigration Practitioner Program for Ashton College Abbotsford Campus since 2016 when Ashton College started to offer the IMCD program at the Abbotsford Campus location. In 2017 Alina received the Faculty Award, presented to an instructor that projects a positive, professional, and approachable attitude within the workplace and who possesses outstanding leadership abilities within the school community.
Cobus Kriek is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant who is also the Managing Director of Matrixvisa Inc. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Stellenbosch and has an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of South Africa. He also completed a three-year Diploma in Export Management, majoring in International Trade Law. In 2002, he completed a Diploma in Immigration from Seneca College of Art and Design in Toronto. Subsequently, he passed a specialist examination in immigration before starting to practice. He is a member in good standing with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.
Craig Natsuhara is an associate partner at EY Law LLP in Vancouver, where he manages the Canadian and cross-border NAFTA Immigration practice. He has practiced business immigration law since 2000, focusing primarily on assisting foreign businesses transfer employees and recruit new temporary foreign workers while establishing operations in Canada. He is excited to share his expertise and practical knowledge with everyone who attends the upcoming continuing professional development webinar.
Denis Korobov is the Founder and Executive Manager of both CWR Immigration Consulting Ltd. and Accord Immigration Consulting Inc, both are firms that specialize in business immigration and immigration in general. He has the knowledge and experience in virtually every kind of category in Canadian immigration, including, but not limited to, business work permits and immigration, economic immigration, temporary residents, the temporary foreign worker program, immigration appeals division, advocating in IRB related cases, humanitarian & compassionate grounds applications, refugee claimants, and judicial review filings.
Other than his work on immigration, Denis participates in boxing, snowboarding, biking, volleyball, and yoga. He is also fluent in both Russian and English.
