This is an advanced certificate in Temporary Resident Class Immigration Law to be delivered in class and online to Lawyers, Quebec Notaries, Paralegals and Immigration Consultants who are seeking an in depth knowledge of this area of Immigration Law.

Course Prerequisites

None, however, Certificate is designed for Lawyers and paralegals who are members in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society; Notaries who are members in good standing of the Chambre des notaires du Québec; and Citizenship or immigration consultants who are members in good standing of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.

Topics/Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to provide:

  1. A thorough advanced analysis of the relevant sections of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) and policies of government agencies relating to the processing of Temporary Residents;
  2. A thorough advanced analysis of the case law relating to the relevant sections of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) and policies of government agencies relating to Temporary Residents; and
  3. A detailed and practical analysis of various strategies within the area of Temporary Residents;
  4. A thorough advanced analysis of the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), the role of Service Canada and other agencies and organizations;
  5. A thorough advanced analysis of the case law relating to the LMIA and Compliance Audits; and
  6. A detailed and practical analysis of various strategies within the area of the LMIA and Compliance Audits.
