Jabeen Boga

Jabeen Boga is a Human Resources professional with over ten years of progressive experience across a wide variety of human resources functions that include employee relations, performance management, change management, HRIS, health and safety and total rewards. In addition to this, she is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) with responsibility for offices that span across Western Canada.

 

Rachael D’Silva

Rachael D’Silva is a Human Resources Professional with 15 years of experience working in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Occupational Health & Safety and Payroll. She has spent the last five years researching and incorporating Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion programs into the workplace. While she provides full spectrum HR support, she sees herself as an HR Specialist passionate about inclusion, belonging and safety, supporting businesses in the private and non-profit sectors. She is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), an SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women.

 

Christine Palak

A community-minded, socially engaged, Chartered Professional in Human Resources, Christine is working towards her Master of Arts in Leadership through Royal Roads University and comes with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Diploma in Human Resources Management from The British Columbia Institute of Technology. Christine is also a Certified Coach Practitioner and an SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Christine has worked in human resources within the financial services, high-tech software, entertainment & gaming, and most recently manufacturing industries rounding out her experience and finding her passion in training, employee engagement, labour relations and coaching & development.

 

Louise Patterson

Louise Patterson is a Ph.D. and M.B.A. graduate from accredited institutions with over twenty-two years of experience in educational instruction, along with multiple publications of peer-reviewed research articles. She has a diverse background in instructing students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Louise is a well-rounded management professional possessing exceptional people skills with over twenty-five years of experience in public and private sectors in human resources management, post-secondary education, research/business analysis, administration, real estate, and customer service/business management in various industries across a wide breadth of different types of organizations.

 

Avelia Stewart

Avelia Stewart is a goal-oriented, people-centred senior HR leader with over 12 years of combined experience assisting companies to source, recruit, train, develop, and retain talent. She is an experienced HR business partner, facilitator, instructional designer, D&I strategist, and organizational communicator, able to design content and programs that drive engagement, value, and change. Avelia is currently the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Lead at Western Financial Group. As the D&I Lead, she is responsible for leading the D&I strategy and strategy initiatives. She holds her Chartered Professional Human Resources (CPHR) and Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designations.

    • Students must devote at least 3 hours per week to attend live webinars
    • Webinars will be held on Thursdays from 4:00 to 7:00 pm PST
    • Outside of live instructional periods, students will be expected to take part in various independent and/or group activities

Required Materials

Set of four SHRM Certifications Textbooks (Print or Online versions) 2022 edition. Registration also includes the online and print versions of the 2022 SHRM Learning System—the official cert prep tool, now updated with questions previously used on actual SHRM Certification exams. Designed specifically for adult learners, this interactive system provides a personalized roadmap that combines in-depth HR knowledge with real-life situations to help you master the material and set you up for success on your exam.

The registration fee is $1,550. This includes both the course fee of $925 and the materials fee of $625.

Technical Requirements

Live Online Students

Ashton College uses web conferencing tools for conducting online classes and online learning management systems for managing resources, assignments, and grades. These tools help instructors and students connect live online as well as asynchronously. The basic requirements for online learning include a computer, webcam, speakers, and a microphone or a headset and headphones, along with a reliable internet connection. Though online learning can be pursued using smartphones and tablets, the use of laptops or desktop computers is encouraged for an enhanced learning experience.

 

This course does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, it was not reviewed.
