Students will learn vital Microsoft Azure administration and security skills through expert Live Online instruction. This course will be the fist step in preparing to pass the exams necessary to become a Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Security Engineer Associate. Ashton College Recommend taking Microsoft Azure Certification (Advanced Course) right after completing the Microsoft Azure Certification (Basic Course).

Course Prerequisites

NONE. Knowledge of logic and any programming language is an asset, but not required.

Topics/Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Manage Azure subscriptions and free account service.
  • Identify the resource groups and learn to analyze resource utilization
  • Gain information about the consumption
  • Figure out the configuration process and management of virtual networks
  • Understand the facility and usage of Azure files and Azure backups
  • Understand Azure identities, governance and access
  • Implement and manage storage
  • Deploy and manage Azure compute resources
  • Understand Network, Storage and Application Security
  • Monitor and back up Azure resources

Technical Requirements

Live Online Students

Ashton College uses web conferencing tools (Zoom for Education) to help instructors and students connect and collaborate live online. Students should have access to a computer, laptop or smartphone to access the class sessions. To be able to participate in webinars, students need a webcam and headset, or a microphone and headphones, along with a high-speed internet connection.

  • Students must devote at least 3 hours per week to attend live webinars.
  • Webinars will be held on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 7:00 pm PST.
  • Outside of live instructional periods, students will be expected to take part in various independent and/or group activities.


Registration fee for this course is $690.

No books required. Some popular readings will be suggested, and available online.
