Microsoft Azure Certification Overview
Microsoft Azure is one of the most popular cloud computing services and many businesses need certified Azure professionals to maintain their cloud infrastructures. Our Azure Certification Advanced course will help you learn the skills you need to work as a cloud computing professional specializing in Microsoft Azure. This course builds on the foundational knowledge taught in the Microsoft Azure Certification Basics course and goes in-depth on Microsoft Azure administrative and security features and functions. The course will help prepare students for the following Microsoft certifications: Azure Administrator Associate and Azure Security Engineer Associate.
Microsoft manages a set of Azure certifications that are designed to help cloud computing professionals validate their skills, and to help employers find suitable employees. There are four different categories of Azure certifications: Fundamental, Associate, Expert, and Specialty.
- The Fundamental category is for entry-level Azure certifications. There are three certifications in this category: Azure Fundamentals, Azure AI Fundamentals, and Azure Data Fundamentals. Each one of these certifications serves as a starting point for a different cloud computing role. The Azure Fundamentals certification is for aspiring Azure administrators, Azure AI is the first step for AI engineers, and Azure Data is the entry point for database administrators.
- The Associate category is for intermediate certifications they serve as the next step for cloud computing professionals who are experienced in Azure. You do not need to obtain fundamental-level certifications before attaining certifications in this category. Certifications at this level include the Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Developer Associate, Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure AI Engineer Associate, and Azure Data Scientist Associate.
- The Expert category is the highest level of certification you can attain for Microsoft Azure. Certifications in this category are the Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Azure Stack Hub Operator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert, and Power Platform Solutions Architect Expert.
- The Specialty category is for advanced technical Azure skills that do not fit into the other categories. Specialty certifications vary in skill level with some being equivalent to the Associate category and others being in the Expert category. Certifications in this category include Windows Virtual Desktop Specialty, Azure IoT Developer Specialty, Azure for SAP Workloads Specialty.
The only requirement for earning any Microsoft Azure certification is to pass the relevant certification exam. There are no other prerequisites for any certification, regardless of the skill level.

Ashton College uses web conferencing tools for conducting online classes and online learning management systems for managing resources, assignments, and grades. These tools help instructors and students connect live online as well as asynchronously. The basic requirements for online learning include a computer, webcam, speakers, and a microphone or a headset and headphones, along with a reliable internet connection. Though online learning can be pursued using smartphones and tablets, the use of laptops or desktop computers is encouraged for an enhanced learning experience.
