Overview

Organizations need individuals with cloud skills to help transform their business. AWS Training and Certification helps you build and validate your cloud skills so you can get more out of the cloud. The Amazon Web Services Certification, or AWS Certification, is a set of training programs and certifications provided by Amazon to credential those seeking to prove their proficiency in Amazon Web Services.

This course will give basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services and prepare for AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification. The Course will also cover basic aspects of security domain focusing on identity and access management, network security, storage security, application security and monitoring.

Course Prerequisites

None, however, Cloud computing course at Ashton college is recommended. Students should have a basic understanding of cloud computing terminology and components as well as basic understanding of security.

Topics/Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Build a cost-effective, scalable, and reliable infrastructure on the AWS platform
  • Use EC2 instances and understand the usage of spot instances, reserved instances and capacity reservations.
  • Understand the usage of images, snapshots, volumes and S3 objects
  • Understand the usage of Elastic IPs, Security Groups and Load Balancers
  • Understand different DB components offered by AWS
  • Describe security services with the AWS cloud
  • Define the billing, account management, and pricing models for the AWS platform
  • Identify common tools and technologies used to implement data security solutions
  • Compare the different methods of interacting with AWS

GeorgeGeorge Mikhailov has over 20 years of vital experience working in cybersecurity and information technology. As an educator, he possesses an intricate knowledge of cybersecurity technology and the leading best practices. His knowledge of security operations, cyber threat intelligence, incident handling, digital forensics and regulations enables him to help organizations transform their cybersecurity practices. He helps companies leverage the appropriate combination of people, processes, and technologies to protect personal confidentiality, preserve system integrity and promote information availability. He began with Network and Endpoint security and moved further into the areas of Web, Application, Messaging and Cloud Security. George Mikhailov holds a master’s degree in IT Security and has industry certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CEH ( Certified Ethical Hacker). He is currently working on his PhD, focusing on advanced threat detection.

    • Outside of live instructional periods, students will be expected to take part in various independent and/or group activities

Ashton College uses web conferencing tools to help instructors and students connect and collaborate live online. Students should have access to a computer, laptop or smartphone to access the class sessions. To be able to participate in webinars, students need a webcam and headset or a microphone and headphones, along with a high-speed internet connection.

This course does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, it was not reviewed.
