Ashton College’s AWS Academy Machine Learning Foundations course introduces students to the concepts and terminology of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. By the end of this course, students will be able to select and apply machine learning services to resolve business problems. They will also be able to label, build, train, and deploy a custom machine learning model through a guided, hands-on approach.

To ensure success in this course, students should have:

  • General IT technical knowledge
  • General IT business knowledge
  • Experience scripting with Python or equivalent
  • A basic understanding of statistics

  • Implement a machine learning pipeline using Amazon SageMaker
  • Use managed Amazon ML services for forecasting

Technical Requirements

Live Online Students

Ashton College uses web conferencing tools for conducting online classes and online learning management systems for managing resources, assignments, and grades. These tools help instructors and students connect live online as well as asynchronously. The basic requirements for online learning include a computer, webcam, speakers, and a microphone or a headset and headphones, along with a reliable internet connection. Though online learning can be pursued using smartphones and tablets, the use of laptops or desktop computers is encouraged for an enhanced learning experience.


This course does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, it was not reviewed.
