The Automotive Electrical Refresher course is designed to give students a foundational knowledge of electrical automotive systems. This course is built for automotive technicians looking to improve or refresh their existing electrical knowledge. Students will learn not only how to diagnose and repair electrical automotive parts, but also how to communicate with customers and maintain a good relationship throughout the process.
When it comes to automotive repair, electronics are one of the most difficult areas to diagnose and service. There are many key concepts and important systems that mechanics often misunderstand, and this course addresses those areas. The number of electrical components in a vehicle is continuing to increase as automotive technology continues to advance. Automotive technicians with electronic and technical diagnostic capabilities are in high demand, and the demand for these skills will only increase in the future.
The course runs for 5 weeks and covers the fundamental topics that automotive professionals working with electricity need to know.

Victor Cole has been an Automotive Service Technician for over 20 years. Living in Toronto, Ontario, Victor’s specialty when working as a Technician was electrical and drivability. Victor studied his apprenticeship at Centennial College in Toronto, ON. In November 2008, Victor received his Automotive Service Technician 310s Red Seal Licence. Victor has recently completed his Bachelor of Education at Brock University in May 2020 earning him a membership with the Ontario College of Teachers. Leading by example as a lifelong learner, Victor is currently working on a Bachelor of Technology at Thompson Rivers University through an open learning program. Victor’s hobbies include Blacksmithing and running. Victor also volunteers his spare time to animal rescue. Victor Cole became a teacher to do his part to help tomorrow’s generation be successful in a world that is ever-changing.

Live Online Students
Ashton College uses web conferencing tools for conducting online classes and online learning management systems for managing resources, assignments, and grades. These tools help instructors and students connect live online as well as asynchronously. The basic requirements for online learning include a computer, webcam, speakers, and a microphone or a headset and headphones, along with a reliable internet connection. Though online learning can be pursued using smartphones and tablets, the use of laptops or desktop computers is encouraged for an enhanced learning experience.
This course does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. As such, it was not reviewed.
