Overview

The Alberta Employment Law course examines Alberta’s employment laws in great detail. Students will gain a foundational understanding of the various aspects of the province’s employment law regime.

The professional world revolves around employment, so having knowledge of the laws governing employment in your province will give you an advantage in your career. Although there are commonalities in employment laws across Canada, every province in the nation has a unique set of employment laws in place.

To gain a full understanding of employment law in Alberta, students will become familiar with the legislation and various regulating bodies that pertain to this area of law. Through this course, students will become deeply familiar with Alberta labour laws and how they affect employers and employees.

Students will learn every aspect of Alberta Employment Law from how the laws are made to how they are implemented, and how they are enforced.

Practical Application

Having knowledge of the employment standards that Alberta has in place is valuable to anyone working within the province as well as for people working in organizations that have operations in Alberta. Internationally-trained professionals can use this course to reskill for the Canadian job market.

Lawyers working within the province or with large businesses will be able to use this knowledge to take on cases related to Alberta labour standards and regulations. Legal assistants and paralegals will be able to expand their responsibilities and assist lawyers in these cases relating to employment law. Human resources professionals will be able to better perform in their roles and ensure that both employers and employees are fulfilling their responsibilities according to Alberta employment laws as the course covers the rights and obligations of employers and employees in both unionized and non-unionized environments.

The registration fee for this course is $995.

Note: Tuition fees do not include the cost of the required textbooks. The textbook fee is approximately $80.00
