Ward, Patricia

Patricia Ward began her journey into social services at 12 years old after volunteering one summer at a local institution with children that had disabilities. Her education includes a Developmental Services Worker Diploma, Bachelor of Social Work, and Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is also an active member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies.

For over 30 years, Patricia has worked in a variety of social service positions. She started in the disability field and has worked in education, residential and day services, childcare, and clinical case management. After leaving the disability field, she worked in child protection and mental health. She currently works as a career counsellor with single parents on social assistance.

Patricia has been a college instructor at a private vocational college for over five years and enjoyed it so much that she started working towards her certificate in adult learning. She believes that trained workers are the key to positive change in the social services field. Patricia is starting her own business as a Transformational Trauma-Informed coach helping clients heal through career changes and travel experiences. She heads outside for hiking or paddleboarding in her spare time, and her dream is to travel to as many countries as possible in the next ten years.
