Desiree has worked in social services for over twenty years across a variety of settings, including low-threshold outreach programs, shelters, experimental housing projects, and neonatal support programs. She has spent the majority of her career working within multidisciplinary teams focused on HIV and Hepatitis C prevention through a harm reduction lens.
She has been a strong advocate for the rights and inclusion of people who use drugs at all levels of government and has led several community initiatives aimed at improving access to harm reduction resources. Desiree currently operates a private practice as a Certified Clinical Trauma Therapist and continues to advocate for the rights of people who use drugs.
