Live Online Info Session

Join us for a live online info session about our Certificate in Immigration Business Law course with Ron Mckay, director of the Immigration Practitioner Centre at Ashton College. Ashton College staff will also be available to advise and answer your questions about admissions and other general questions about the course.

This course is an advanced certificate in Business Immigration Law (CBIL) for Lawyers, Quebec Notaries, Paralegals and Immigration Consultants who are seeking in-depth knowledge of this area of Business Immigration Law. The advanced certificate in Business Immigration Law will deal with the Quebec Investor Class, Quebec Entrepreneur Class, Start-up Business Class, and Self-employed Persons Class. In addition, the advanced certificate will deal with the Provincial Nominee Class as relates to entrepreneurs and Service Canada’s Owner/Operator Labour Market Impact Assessments.

Meet the Instructor: Ron McKay

Ron McKay has been employed in the Canadian immigration field for over thirty years. He was previously employed as a locally engaged Immigration Officer at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan from 1986 to 1996. When he returned to Canada, he was employed as the in-house Immigration Consultant for the law firm of Clark Wilson LLP in Vancouver, British Columbia from 1996 to 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Laurentian University and he is a graduate of the UBC-Seneca Immigration Practitioner Program.

Ron was the First National President for the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC) in 1999–2000. He subsequently served as a National Director for the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) from 2011 to 2016. He was the National Chair of ICCRC from 2015 to 2016.

Ron has over 20 years of experience in the education sector, having been an English as a Second Language Instructor in Tokyo, Japan; an instructor for the UBC-Seneca Immigration Practitioner Program; and the Director, Immigration Practitioner Programs and IMCD instructor for Ashton College from 2017 to present.
