Join us for a live online demo class with Heidi Bachert-Burke, Human Resources Management Diploma program instructor.

Accredited for Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Canada (CPHR) designation and  DHRM focuses on skills that build effective relationships at all levels of the organization. During the program, students will explore several important topics, including workforce planning, human resources development, compensation and benefits, labour relations and occupational health and safety.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate core processes in human resources practices associated with strategic planning, acquisition and development, utilization of human resources, establishment and improvement of labour and employee relations, and compensation and administration issues.
  2. Promote the best human resources practices in an organization.
  3. Contribute to the monitoring of health and safety in the workplace.
  4. Analyze diverse forms of adaptation to a changing environment and implement change in a logical and planned way.
  5. Define implementation strategies for job redesign and work re-organization.
  6. Analyze the application of industrial relations legislations and their effects on employee relations and working conditions.
  7. Evaluate the application of key practical approaches to contemporary human resource problems in an organizational context.
  8. Encourage an approach to the practice of human resource management that is proactive and thoughtful rather than reactive.
  9. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing.

Meet the Instructor: Heidi Bachert-Burke

Heidi Bachert-Burke brings more than 20+ years of progressive knowledge and experience working as a Human Resources professional. A majority of these years were with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto, where she worked in a Senior Management HR & Administration role for news and multimedia platforms. Her responsibilities included managing the full spectrum of HR and administrative activities for multiple domestic and international locations; ensuring compliance and managing risk in unionized & non-unionized workplaces; analyzing data and providing evidence-based results; implementing and directing best practices and strategies to meet organizational goals & diversity initiatives; partnering with stakeholders and providing guidance and mentorship to her direct reports.

At Ashton College (Vancouver campus), Heidi teaches all six Human Resources Management CPHR core competency courses (both in-class and online), including Professional Practices of Human Resource Management, HR Analytics, Organizational Effectiveness & Strategy,  Employee & Labour Relations & Occupational Health and Safety, Recruitment. Retention & Selection, Organizational Learning, Training & Development, Total Rewards, as part of the Diploma in Human Resources Management Program.
