How Change Management and Diversity and Inclusion Training are Shaping Human Resources in 2023

Published On: February 1, 2023

Introduction

Staying on top of the rapid changes and ensuring that the workplace remains positive and productive is going to be the biggest challenge HR professionals face in 2023. The best tools HR professionals have for meeting this challenge are change management and diversity and inclusion skills. These two areas of HR will shape the HR industry for the rest of 2023, and we will show you exactly why that is.

Change Management

Helping employees and employers adapt to, and successfully integrate these over the past couple of years of changes will require a skilled change management professional to step in. Change management professionals take a people-first approach to projects and changes in an organization. By helping individuals and groups within an organization adapt to changes, change management professionals minimize resistance to change and ensure that company morale remains high and that changes are enacted smoothly.

Many employees are justifiably exhausted by the onslaught of changes that occurred in the last year, and so even the most skilled change management professionals will be faced with the challenge of helping employees through those changes. As remote work continues to be the norm, successfully guiding people through organizational changes will largely have to be done through long-distance means, which is an additional challenge to be overcome.

As in-person working becomes a viable option once again, work from home policies will have to be examined and adapted and these changes may be the most difficult for employees to adjust to.

Diversity and Inclusion

The demand for diversity and inclusion in the workplace continues to grow in 2023 and it is not something that companies can simply ignore. Not only has it been shown that diverse teams are more productive than homogenous ones, but consumers and employees are also expecting more from companies and they will walk away if they feel an organization does not actively participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

For HR professionals, the diversity and inclusion focus will largely be on internal operations, hiring policies and corporate culture. Ensuring that employees feel safe and included at the workplace, regardless of where they work from, will be a top priority. HR professionals will need to foster and diverse and inclusive corporate culture both in the office and among remote workers.
