Help out an important cause this holiday season by participating in the Ashton College Holiday Donation Drive.
Between now and December 15, 2014, donations of gift cards, movie passes, footwear, crafts, children's toys, board games, canned goods, and plus size clothing will be accepted in the Ashton College room 410 (reception area).
All donations will go to The Bloom Group.
The Bloom Group is a non-profit organization that assists Vancouver Downtown East Side residents in need. They have been serving the community for over 50 years and they focus on reducing homelessness, providing end-of-life care for individuals who are battling addiction and mental health issues, and ensure that woman-led families in crisis can stay together as they rebuild their lives. One such project is Powell Place, a low barrier women's shelter.
A low barrier woman's shelter is one that will accept a woman into the shelter regardless of her circumstance and without conditions. Powell Place is a women's only emergency shelter that offers support services, referrals for additional community services, crisis intervention, and support finding permanent housing.
Springhouse Place accepts women, children of any age (including male children over the age of 12), and even family pets to ensure that they family stays together in order to get the help they need.

This is a very worthy cause that helps support and empower Vancouver Downtown East Side women and keep woman-led families together. Help families in crisis get the support they need this holiday season as every donation, regardless of its size, makes a big difference to these families who may otherwise not have access to things like toys, games, family entertainment, warm clothing, and new footwear.
Although we are doing a holiday donation drive, you can donate year round by contacting the bloom group directly.
