Career Success Story- Diploma in Human Resources Management

Published On: August 30, 2023

I would like to start off my Human Resources in Alberta career success story with how I got where I am today.

Since graduating from Ashton College, I have become a successful candidate with CPHR Alberta and involved with Human Resources in Alberta. I started as a human resource generalist in the medical field. My next journey took me to full cycle recruitment. Then I took a role as an HR generalist in the oil fields.

By having these jobs, I was able to figure out where I wanted to be under the Human Resources Management umbrella. I figured out that I wanted to be a Human Resources Manager/Adviser. This experience and my education have since landed me my current role as a facilitator of teams. I'm doing everything from training and development to recruitment to new hires and their compensation. I also deal with benefits, disciplinary actions and payroll.

Even though I had experience in human resources prior to attending Ashton College, taking this program, has given me extensive knowledge and prepared me for the challenges that I may face. This program at Ashton College gave me the knowledge especially going into my first role with labour relations. It prepared me for the challenges when dealing with collective agreements, collective bargaining, and grievances. But the one skill that Ashton College gave me was how to deal with all sorts of people. With this Diploma in Human Resource Management behind me, I have become a stronger human resources management professional.

For any person looking to either start their career or go back to school, I strongly encourage you to take that leap of faith and take this program. The value, impact, and knowledge you will gain through this program will help you succeed in the future. All my hard work and dedication has proven effective as it's landed me my true dream job. It was worth it all in the end.
