With the creation of new and exciting technologies, also comes the creation of entirely new jobs and career paths. One of the biggest expanding fields is digital marketing. This promising field has become even more promising in recent years, with the demand for digital marketers dramatically increasing in the past 12 months. There are many possible careers in digital marketing, and the different specialties that can appeal to a wide range of talents.  


SEO, or search engine optimization, marketing is one of the most in-demand skills in the industry. It focuses on designing and creating content that will rank higher on search engines therefore bringing in more traffic to your site. To do so it requires including key words in content, great page usability, fast website speed, clear mobile accessibility, and more. The career path within SEO includes SEO Specialist, SEO Manager and finally Digital Marketing Director, meaning that there's great potential for growth within this area of the field. 

Social Media  

Almost everyone has some form of social media. It is just about a necessity in this day and age. Social media has more than just the potential of sharing fun photos and videos, and it plays an integral role in many companies. Social media marketing acts as a great tool for advertising by promoting customer interest and engagement with the companies and products on a wide range of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. As social media specialists and managers you will be in charge of creating original content to help promote the client's social media presence and overall goals.  

UX Designer 

This area of design focuses on creating maximum interaction between users and products and services, such as websites, apps, etc. A goal of a UX Designer is to create the best customer experience possible by focusing on what users want and need. Possible duties within UX Design include: 

  • Conducting user research 
  • Creating user personas 
  • Designing websites, mobile apps, and software 
  • Creating prototypes 
  • Conducting user testing

Email Marketing  

This more traditional form of marketing maybe be older, but it is still highly effective. This is a lead-generating focused area of marketing, meaning that targeted campaigns will try to turn leads, people who have expressed interest in the products, into sales.  

Copy Writing  

Are you an excellent writer? This area of marketing focuses almost solely on the written word, and how to create the best texts for marketing efforts. As a copywriter you will be in charge of creating promotional material in order to engage readers and encourage the sale of a specific product or service. Copywriters often write for content marketing campaigns seen on websites, social media posts, advertisements, emails, and brochures. As a copywriter you will often work with many areas of marketing and colleagues, meaning you can branch out and learn and work in different areas of the field.

Overall, this exciting field offers many distinct and interesting career paths. As technology evolves there will likely be even more unique careers created in marketing, meaning that now is the perfect time to enter the field.
